My dear mates, It’ll take a long time for these lines to dry out under the weight of emotions and my crystal tears but I’ve got to get down to it. Even the most beautiful stories and events come to an end, they claimed when saying bye-bye to just about all of Europe in the packed Tipsport Arena...and even though it’s true, I trust we’re all taking dope memories back with us!

Last day of European Youth Olympics (EYOWF) 2011 in the Liberec Region was finished with mixed relays races of Alpine Skiing and Biathlon and with Parallel Giant slalom of nation mixed teams. The German Biathlete Laura Dahlmeier became the most successful participant at the EYOWF 2011 with three gold medals. The final competition of the Festival was Ice Hockey finale, the champions are from Russia.

The young Russians – Ovechkin and Malkin's successors, won the last competition of the 10th EYOWF 2011 – the Ice Hockey tournament. Ovechkin and Malkin also played at the Youth Olympics in the past. In the final that Roman Kumpošt, the President of the Organising Committee, started with the ceremonial face-off at the Liberec Tipsport Arena, they beat Finland 2:1 after a very dramatic and closely balanced fight. Viacheslav Osnovin scored the Russian Golden goal in the 64th minute after a great solo run.

In the concluding Biathlon race of the EYOWF 2011, the mixed relay in Břízky, the German athletes swept to a clear victory. The team consisting of Julia Bartolmaes, Laura Dahlmeier, Roman Rees and Matthias Dorfer dominated the race from the very start and took the gold almost five minutes ahead of second-placed Norway, with the French coming in third.

The mixed teams parallel giant slalom brought joy to the Swedish athletes, who won gold medals. They beat the Swiss in the finals, while the bronze was taken by the Italians. The Czech team did not get past the 1/8 finals.

The Mixed Relay race in Vesec brought the greatest joy for the Norwegian team, with the German squad winning silver and the Russians a bronze.
